Which Shopify Plan Is Best for a UK Store? (2026 Prices)

Shopify UK plan prices for 2026: Basic £25, Grow £65, Advanced £344 and Plus from £1,800 per month

Quick answer: Basic is the starting point for most UK stores run by one person. Grow is for small teams. Advanced is for larger stores that need live carrier shipping rates or lower card fees at high volume. Plus is for complex businesses that need enterprise features.

But the monthly price is only part of the cost. Payment fees, apps, your theme, your domain and POS all add up. This guide walks through each plan in plain numbers so you can pick the right one.

Shopify is currently offering 3 days free, then £1/month for your first 3 months.

There is also a separate Starter plan. It is built for selling through links and social media, not for running a full online store. If you want a proper website shop, Basic is where you start.

What each plan includes

Basic: £25/month (£19 billed yearly)

Basic gives you everything you need to launch: a full online store, unlimited products, Shopify checkout, Shopify Payments, 200+ reports, marketing tools, abandoned checkout recovery, hosting, free SSL, a custom domain, the Shopify Sidekick AI assistant, social and marketplace selling, and B2B selling with up to 3 catalogs.

The main limit: no extra staff accounts. Only the owner logs in. That is fine if you run the store yourself.

Grow: £65/month (£49 billed yearly)

Everything in Basic, plus up to 5 staff accounts and a lower online card fee (1.7% + 25p instead of 2% + 25p).

The most common reason to move to Grow is simple: someone else needs their own login to your Shopify admin.

Advanced: £344/month (£259 billed yearly)

Everything in Grow, plus up to 15 staff accounts, a 1.5% + 25p online card fee, live third-party shipping rates at checkout, stronger tools for selling in other countries and currencies, advanced reports, higher API limits and enhanced support.

It costs a lot more than Grow, so only move up when it solves a real problem for your business.

Plus: from £1,800/month

Plus is not just a bigger Advanced plan. It adds enterprise features: unlimited staff, unlimited B2B catalogs, a fully customisable checkout, free extra stores for other regions, higher API limits, high-volume checkout, custom functions, custom user groups, bot protection, priority support and up to 200 POS Pro locations.

Revenue alone does not decide whether you need Plus. The question is whether you need these features.

Shopify payment fees in the UK

Card fees often cost you more than the plan itself, so compare them carefully.

PlanOnline cardsIn-person cardsFee if you use another payment provider
Basic2% + 25p1.7%2%
Grow1.7% + 25p1.6%1%
Advanced1.5% + 25p1.5%0.6%
Plus1.3% + 25p1.5%0.2%

These are the standard UK card rates. Amex, international cards and methods like Klarna have different rates.

If Shopify Payments is your only payment provider, you pay no extra transaction fee, and there are no setup or monthly fees. If you use another provider (for example PayPal as your main gateway, or a different card processor), Shopify adds the fee in the last column, on top of what that provider charges you.

Selling in a shop as well? POS Pro costs an extra £69/month per location on Basic, Grow and Advanced.

When does upgrading pay for itself?

A higher plan costs more each month but charges you less per sale. Here is the simple maths, using UK prices and standard online card fees with Shopify Payments:

UpgradeExtra plan cost per yearCard fee savingPays for itself at about
Basic → Grow (monthly billing)£4800.3%£160,000 sales a year
Basic → Grow (yearly billing)£3600.3%£120,000 sales a year
Grow → Advanced (monthly billing)£3,3480.2%£1.67 million sales a year
Grow → Advanced (yearly billing)£2,5200.2%£1.26 million sales a year
Basic to Grow pays for itself at about £160,000 yearly sales; Grow to Advanced at about £1.67 million

So for most UK stores, card fees alone are not a reason to upgrade. Upgrade when you need the features (staff logins, shipping rates, international tools), and treat lower fees as a bonus.

It is different if you use another payment provider. The gap in Shopify's extra fee is bigger (2% on Basic vs 1% on Grow), so Basic to Grow can pay for itself from around £36,000 to £48,000 a year in sales.

Your real numbers depend on your payment mix and card types. Take your last 3 months of payment fees from your Shopify reports and run the same sum.

Does yearly billing save money?

Yes, about 25% on the three standard plans:

PlanMonthly billingYearly billingYou save per year
Basic£25£19£72
Grow£65£49£192
Advanced£344£259£1,020

The trade-off: you pay upfront and commit for a year. Many new stores start monthly, then switch to yearly once they know the plan fits.

What Shopify really costs

Your plan is only one line on the bill. Budget for:

  • Card and payment fees
  • Extra transaction fees, if you don't use Shopify Payments
  • Apps (often the biggest surprise)
  • A paid theme, if you don't use a free one
  • Your domain name
  • POS Pro, if you sell in person
  • Shipping, fulfilment and currency conversion

Hosting, bandwidth and SSL are included in every plan.

Can apps save you from upgrading?

Sometimes. An app can add a feature you would otherwise look for on a bigger plan, at a fraction of the cost. A few of ours, as examples:

  • Turbo Checkout adds bundles and quantity discounts on the product page to lift your average order value.
  • LandBar adds landing pages, announcement banners and countdown timers for sales.
  • AI Alt Image Text SEO writes image alt text automatically for SEO and accessibility.
  • AI Broken Link Manager finds broken links and sets up redirects.

But an app cannot remove a plan limit. If you need more staff logins, live carrier shipping rates or a Plus-only feature, you need that plan.

Checklist before you choose

  • Team: how many people need their own admin login?
  • Payments: will you use Shopify Payments only, or another provider too?
  • Sales: what are your expected yearly sales? Use the break-even table above.
  • Apps: add up the monthly cost of the apps you really need.
  • Shipping: do you need live rates from carriers at checkout?
  • In-person selling: will you need POS Pro?
  • B2B: will 3 wholesale catalogs be enough?
  • International: which currencies, domains and local payment methods do you need?
  • Technical: do you need a custom checkout, higher API limits or several stores?

The simple rule

Start with the cheapest plan that covers what you need today.

  • Basic if you run the store yourself.
  • Grow if you need staff logins (up to 5).
  • Advanced if you need up to 15 staff, live carrier shipping rates or stronger international tools.
  • Plus if you need enterprise features like a custom checkout, unlimited B2B or extra stores.

You can change plans at any time, so review your plan as your store grows. Don't pay for features you don't use, and don't stay on a plan that is holding you back.
